Countdown to Commencement 2023: Micaela Brigida

March 20, 2023

Political science major international studies minor Micaela Brigida is the next member of the Class of 2023 to be featured in the “Countdown to Commencement” series. Brigida was nominated by Jonathan Schott, assistant director, in the Office of Campus Ministry.

As a native of Fairport, New York, Brigida came to campus ready to make a difference. Her involvement in the Teddi Dance for Love, Campus Ministry, and more show her commitment to making an impact in the community. She also serves as a campus ambassador providing tours to prospective students.

“Through her positivity and kindness, even in the face of her own struggles, Micaela is a fantastic representative for our institution. She is ultra-reliable and a go-getter– setting goals and beating them,” said Schott.

As a peer minister, Brigida is a liaison between Campus Ministry and the student-athletes – organizing service trips for athletic teams on campus. She represents the ministry during mass and acts as marketing coordinator through promotional efforts of service projects, retreats, social events, and all other activities organized by Campus Ministry. With the Teddi Dance for Love, Brigida planned and coordinated various fundraising events on campus and participated in the 24-hour dance marathon.

“Micaela is an amazing student. She was a great ambassador for four years, a reliable peer minister, and an ideal teammate for the women’s soccer team. All in all, she’s just great, there’s no other way to put it,” said Schott.

Through her involvement as vice president of the Political Action Club (PAC), she planned and organized political events on campus such as a voter registration drive and a “Get to Know the Candidates” event. She also worked with the Student Government Association (SGA) to promote the importance of voting and being an active member in American politics on campus. Her involvement in PAC gave her good experience leading up to her role as a Congressional intern with Senator Charles E. Schumer.

“My experience at Fisher is one I will forever be grateful for. Not only have I learned a lot from my classes, but I have also learned a lot from the people I have met and worked with along the way. Fisher has allowed me to become confident in my abilities and has prepared me for my future and so much more,” said Brigida.
