DESCRIPTION:Pain in people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is frequently overlooked, misunderstood, or attributed to behavioral concerns rather than underlying physical discomfort. Communication differences, diagnostic overshadowing, and assumptions about pain expression can create barriers to effective assessment and treatment.
