Students explore sustainability in the context of local green spaces.
The Center for Sustainability advances the concepts of a sustainable society on campus and beyond through education, engagement, and advocacy.
As members of a campus community, each person has an important role in building our sustainable future. Our collective progress requires a holistic, multifaceted approach, with broad participation from campus stakeholders. The Center for Sustainability provides resources and opportunities for students to learn about, study, and practice sustainability both on and off-campus. The Center encourages sustainable academic, operational, and community engagement practices among faculty, staff, and students at Fisher.
The Center strives to produce informed, community-minded citizens, and to enable our students, alumni, faculty, and staff to contribute to the sustainability of our community.
Sustainability is integrated among a diverse range of disciplines at Fisher, and faculty, staff, and students are integrating sustainable practices into their discussions and work. Students are encouraged to explore campus operations and given hands-on experience with a variety of sustainability issues, including the following:
In support of our sustainability goals, the University is an institutional member of the Association for the Advancement for Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the New York State Coalition for Sustainability in Higher Education (NYSCHE), and a REV Campus Challenge Participant. Further, the college participates in Rochester Area efforts with fellow institutions of higher education.
