Fisher Dining’s Heather Stubbs Honored

December 12, 2018

Heather Stubbs, Ward-Haffey Dining Hall Manager, was recently honored by Compass, Fisher Dining Services’ parent company, with their Be A Star: Star Associate of the Year Award, representing the Northeast Metro Region.

The award honors employees who live the Compass values of openness, trust, and integrity; passion for quality; win through teamwork; responsibility; and can-do attitudes. She was formally recognized at a ceremony in October.

At 6:30 a.m., Stubbs sets the pace for the day with an email to all managers and supervisors with the daily pre-meal outline. She also keeps the campus community updated on breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus with a daily email and social media messages. Her efforts in dining marketing helped grow Fisher Dining’s total Facebook followers by 41 percent, and added an additional 300 followers on Instagram in just two semesters.

After engaging in management training, Stubbs took on management of Cyber Café throughout the summer, and helped prepare for the Buffalo Bills Training Camp and fall orientation. She is also active in developing new sustainability efforts, collaborating with the Center for Sustainability in the weekly Waste Wednesdays, and researching OZZI, a reusable take-out container program that will debut on campus in spring 2019.

“Heather leads the Ward-Haffey staff, setting the example for service standards and food presentation,” said Andrea Maccarone, director of Fisher Dining Services. “We love her energy, ideas, and how she embraces every project with a focus on increasing student satisfaction.”
