
School of Business alumni Tashanda Thomas ’11 accepts her Forty Under 40 award.
Two employees and two alumni were honored as recipients of the Rochester Business Journal’s 2018 Forty Under 40 awards.
Kate Torok, director of marketing and communications; Dr. Ashley Zuppelli, adjunct professor and preceptor at the Wegmans School of Pharmacy; and School of Business alumni Tashanda Thomas ’11 and Evan Tzimas ’01, were formally recognized during a ceremony held on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Torok, who has been with the College since 2010 and took the helm of Fisher’s Office of Marketing and Communications in 2014, oversees the College’s integrated communication strategies to increase brand awareness and support recruitment efforts. In her role, she oversees the College’s marketing and communication strategies and campaigns, directs print publications, social media strategy, and public relations efforts. She is also a board member at 13Thirty Cancer Connect, a volunteer with Cobbles Elementary PTA, and a member of the Rochester chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Torok holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from St. Bonaventure University.
In addition to serving as a preceptor and adjunct professor in the School of Pharmacy, Zuppelli is the director of innovation services for Trillium Health where she oversees HIV pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis and Hepatitis C programming. She also manages NYSDOH AIDS Institute sponsored grants valuing over $1 million. In the community, she is a core member of the Monroe County Partnering to End the HIV Epidemic initiative and is involved in the NYSDOH AIDS Institute Pharmacy Advisory Committee, among other efforts. Zuppelli holds a doctorate of pharmacy from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
As director of sales for Innovative Solutions, Tzimas is responsible for managing the support functions critical to sales force productivity. This includes planning, reporting, quota management, sale process optimization, sales training, and other operations to ensure effectiveness. He is a board member for Gilda’s Club and a committee member for Flower City Habitat for Humanity Leaders Build. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Fisher.
Thomas serves as director of human resources for the Ibero-American Action League, Inc., overseeing all HR operations for the agency. This includes supervising and providing consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget, and labor relations. In the community, she is a member of the HR committee for the YMCA and Willow Domestic Violence Center, and serves on the United Way AALDP Recruiting/Selection Committee. Thomas holds an associate’s degree in business administration from Monroe Community College, a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in HR from Fisher, as well as certifications through the HR Certification Institute and Society for Human Resources Management.
