Five Earn TriBeta Research Grants

Five undergraduate biology students at St. John Fisher College were named winners of 2018-2019 TriBeta Research Grant Awards. In all, the students received grants totaling $2,900 in support of their academic research.

The grants are given by the Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) Research Scholarship Foundation. A national biology honor society, TriBeta provides funding to undergraduate students conducting research through these competitive awards.

Olivia Marziale (Dr. Jonathan Millen, mentor) was awarded $1,000; Miranda Williamson (Dr. Maryann Herman, mentor) was awarded $900; Quinn Magiera (Dr. Jonelle Mattiacio and Dr. Kristin Picardo, co-mentors) was awarded $400; Allen Murphy (Dr. Edward Freeman, mentor) was awarded $300; and Thomas Pasquale (Dr. Edward Freeman, mentor) was awarded $300.

“TriBeta provides a platform for our students to engage with their peers at other institutions and the broader biological community,” said Dr. Noveera Ahmed, TriBeta faculty advisor and associate professor of biology. “Our students consistently win grants and awards on the regional and national level. TriBeta students are researchers, mentors, and leaders, on and off campus. They maintain high academic standards and engage in community service as requirements to remain TriBeta members. We are all very proud of what they have achieved.”
