Community Education Partner Program Expands Access to Graduate Offerings at Fisher

December 5, 2019

A new partnership between St. John Fisher College and local organizations will help expand access to graduate programs for Rochester-area employees.

The Community Education Partner Program will provide a 20 percent tuition discount to select employees of companies and organizations who enroll in graduate programs in the College’s School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, and School of Education.

“At the heart of our mission is making a Fisher education accessible,” said Jose Perales, vice president for enrollment management. “The Community Education Partner Program creates an opportunity for individuals to earn a graduate degree at Fisher and in turn, strengthen their skills, add value to their workplace, and achieve personal career goals.”

Monroe Community College (MCC) and Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) have already signed on as partners to the program and Perales said Fisher is currently finalizing partnerships with several other organizations with plans to expand in the near future. With a vision of creating a culture of success, FLCC joined the program as a way to offer its more than 350 employees an avenue for career advancement.

“I can personally attest to the value of Fisher’s Ed.D. in Executive Leadership program, ” said Carol Urbaitis, vice president of enrollment management at FLCC, and a graduate of the program. “The strategic partnership between our two institutions expands opportunities for FLCC employees to further their professional development and hone their leadership practice through the program’s social justice foundation and curriculum.”

The partnership requires that three or more employees from the same organization enroll at Fisher in the same term, in any combination of master’s or doctoral programs offered by the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, and School of Education. Currently enrolled students in graduate programs are not eligible for this discount and it cannot be combined with other scholarships. The program will launch in spring 2020.
