Fisher Students Attend Cornell Family Business Conference

October 17, 2019

Last month, three School of Business students attended the 5th Annual Families in Business Conference at Cornell University. Joined by Drs. Carol Wittmeyer and Rama Yelkur, students Charles Holvey, Anthony Kousmanidis, and Andrew Callaghan represented St. John Fisher College at the event.

Students from the School of Business, along with Dean Rama Yelkur, attended the Cornell Family Business Conference.

Kousmanidis, a senior accounting major, said he thoroughly enjoyed the conference and met some extraordinary people. The conference taught him the importance of being heard and being able to listen. He also learned a lot about empathy. “There is a growing need for empathy in a world that is developing so fast technologically that we miss the true person-to-person connection we once had,” he said.

For the past five years, the conference has brought together family members, business leaders, students, and alumni over the course of two days in Ithaca, New York. This year’s conference included panels on leadership agility, longevity and legacy, current findings in family business research, and more.
