Courage Bowl XV Comes Home

September 29, 2019

On Saturday, October 5, the St. John Fisher College Cardinals will take on The College at Brockport Golden Eagles during Courage Bowl XV, an annual football game to benefit the children and families of Camp Good Days and Special Times. This year’s Courage Bowl returns home to Fisher’s Growney Stadium, with kick-off slated for 6 p.m.

Football players walk onto the field with kids from Camp Good Days during a past Courage Bowl game.

The Courage Bowl has grown into one of Camp Good Days’ largest fundraisers since its inception in 2004. Each year, Fisher and Brockport square off in a Division III football game, with proceeds benefiting Camp Good Days.

Some say the real magic of the game happens on the sidelines, as campers serve as honorary coaches and cheerleaders for both teams. These are campers who have been diagnosed with cancer and are not able to fully participate in a real athletic experience. The Courage Bowl gives these campers that opportunity.

At the conclusion of the Courage Bowl, the Teddi Trophy will be presented to the winning team. Named in memory of Teddi Mervis, Gary Mervis’ daughter and the inspiration behind Camp Good Days, the trophy is later inscribed with the date of the game, final score of the game, names of the six honorary coaches and the names of one player from each team who displayed exceptional leadership and sportsmanship.

Tickets to the Courage Bowl, which are $5, are available at the gate on game day.
