AMA Event Brings Alumni Back to Fisher
On Friday, Jan. 26, the St. John Fisher College American Marketing Association (AMA) hosted its third annual alumni event. Current and former members of the student organization gathered in the Bonadio Lobby of the Salerno Center to network and reflect on memories made in the club.
This affinity group of alumni was founded close to the inception of the marketing program and rise of the collegiate chapter of AMA. Most attendees graduated in the past five years, sharing impactful messages about their early work careers with those students nearing graduation and preparing for entry into the workforce. Many former members of AMA are employed in marketing positions in the Rochester area, with several pursuing master’s degrees to advance their career opportunities.
The annual event provided a great opportunity for current students to network with former members of AMA who offered valuable advice about interview preparation, the internship search process, and how to use connections made at Fisher to advance a career.
“The alumni event is a great way to practice networking with people who are familiar and willing to help you,” said Emily Risch, a current member of AMA. “I look up to a lot of the alumni and hearing that they have reached their career goals makes me optimistic for my own future.”
Fisher’s chapter of AMA has several events coming up this semester, including the Rochester Collegiate Conference on Friday, Feb. 23 and the International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana in April.
