Countdown to Commencement: Aviana Catarisano
The next featured senior in our Countdown to Commencement video series is Aviana Catarisano, an accounting major who is highly involved at the College. Catarisano was nominated by one of her advisors and mentors, Michael Fedoryshyn, associate professor of accounting in the School of Business.
Catarisano had always been an inquisitive child, wanting to understand how the world works. She said accounting is the language for business and is able to tell a story, and that’s what interested her in the major.
She has made the most out of her time here, becoming president of Accounting Club; president of Beta Gamma Sigma, the School of Business honor society; and vice president of the dean’s student advisory council. In addition, she is a legacy student as both of her parents are Fisher alumni.
Fedoryshyn expects Catarisano to do great things after graduation.
“Her ability to handle a lot of responsibility and always be courteous, friendly, and fair with other faculty, students, and staff will help her accomplish great things,” Fedoryshyn said in his nomination.
Catarisano has accepted a job offer at a public accounting firm in New York City, and plans to move there this summer. Her advice to Fisher students?
“Capitalize on any opportunity that ever arises because after these four years they go by fast and you don’t want to regret anything,” she said.
