Countdown to Commencement: Ikenna Onuoha
The next featured member of the Class of 2018 in the Countdown to Commencement video series is Ikenna Onuoha, who is earning a master’s degree in management from the School of Business. Onuoha was nominated by Matt Lake, international student advisor.
Onuoha first found Fisher when he was searching for a postgraduate degree online. He was very interested when he saw the Basilian motto, “teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge,” and when he learned that he could complete the management program in one year.
According to Lake, Onuoha has become a very influential voice among the College’s international student population, and that he is looking to create a more comprehensive international student support network on campus. He has worked with the College’s study abroad club to create a smoother transition and environment for the international students. In addition, he holds two campus jobs, working as a phonathon caller and in dining services.
“Ikenna’s smile and positivity is infectious, as is his desire to make a difference wherever he is. He doesn’t see impossibilities,” Lake said.
Onuoha said that the Fisher environment has been inspirational to him.
“Knowledge, no matter how small, no matter how huge, no matter your age, no matter your experience, if you don’t share it, it’s of no value,” Onuoha said.
