Countdown to Commencement: Ryan Pete
The next featured senior in our Countdown to Commencement video series is Ryan Pete, an accounting major who was nominated by Sally Vaughan, recently retired director of community service.
Pete found Fisher through recommendations from his guidance counselors in high school. After a visit, he said he really connected to the small-knit community and one-on-one attention the professors would be able to provide him.
Aside from his studies in the accounting program, Pete is involved as a First Generation Scholar, member of the Teddi Dance for Love Committee, Accounting Club member, and sits on the executive board for Students Who Advocate Volunteering (SWAV).
Vaughan says that Pete always goes above and beyond what is expected of him and doesn’t take his time at Fisher for granted.
“I will remember how appreciative and grateful Ryan is for his First Generation scholarship. It has afforded him opportunities for which he has taken full advantage,” she said. Additionally, I am impressed by how respectful he is of others.
Pete has accepted a full-time position with Deloitte, which followed from his internship with the firm.
If Pete could offer one piece of advice to future Fisher students, he would say to get involved.
“Those opportunities are where you’re going to build relationships, friendships, network, and really make the most of what Fisher has to offer. If you can do that, it will set you up for success,” Pete said.
