Fisher Student-Athletes Earn E8 Academic Accolades

The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has released its President's List recipients for fall 2017; recognizing collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom. This season, Fisher had 117 students make the list, hailing from 16 Fisher sports teams. Leading the pack was the women’s tennis squad, which earned a combined 3.64 grade point average.

Fisher’s 117 athletes join 796 other student-athletes from the Empire 8 who have made the President's List. To be included on the list, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.75 grade point average or higher while competing in a conference-sponsored sport, must be a full-time collegiate athlete, and exhibit positive conduct on and off campus.

The nine full-time conference members collectively earned a 3.22 grade point average, second highest in Empire 8 history; falling .01 hundredth behind the spring 2017 results. 

Sixteen programs from Fisher were named an Academic Team by the conference after finishing with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or higher. Women’s cheerleading (3.23), baseball (3.28), men’s cross country (3.33), men’s tennis (3.57), men’s volleyball (3.28), women’s basketball (3.22), women’s cross country (3.44), women’s rowing (3.24), field hockey (3.31), softball (3.6), women’s soccer (3.41), women’s tennis (3.64), women’s indoor track and field (3.44), women’s outdoor track and field (3.46) and women’s volleyball (3.56) were recognized for their exceptional work in the classroom. 

Additionally, 13 of the Fisher students on the President's List are also members of the College's Honors Program.
