Nursing Graduate Programs among U.S. News’ Top 200

Two programs in St. John Fisher College’s Wegmans School of Nursing are among the top 200 graduate nursing programs in the country, according to a ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Fisher ranked No. 167 for Best Nursing Schools - Master’s and No. 149 for Best Nursing Schools - Doctor of Nursing Practice on the 2019 edition of the publication’s “Best Grad Schools Nursing” lists.

“This recognition is a direct result of our faculty contributions, student successes, and alumni accomplishments—all shaping programs that are steeped in academic excellence leading to outstanding patient care,” said Dr. Dianne Cooney Miner, dean of the School. “Being among the top 200 programs in the country is a testament to all of them, and I am so proud of our exceptional programs and the thousands of Fisher nurses who are delivering quality care in their communities.”

The School offers five Master of Science in Nursing degrees including Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner; Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner; Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner; and Adult/Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist; as well as a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. The School’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program offers nurse specialization and advanced clinical practice experience. 

Speaking to the strength of the School’s standards and curriculum, all of its programs have earned accreditation from state and national accrediting bodies. The School has also secured millions of dollars in grant funding. Most recently, the School was given a $1.9 million grant—the largest in the College’s history—to further weave integrated behavioral and physical health care training into the curriculum of its mental health counselor and psychiatric nurse practitioners graduate programs.
