Rice’s Essay Included in Online Exhibit

A new, permanent, online exhibition curated by the Center for Art and Thought will feature a 2011 essay written by Dr. Mark Rice, professor and chair of the American Studies Department at St. John Fisher College.

The essay, titled “Colonial Photography Across Empires and Islands,” was published in the Journal of Transnational American Studies and explores the photographs used to create narratives of the U.S. colonial regimes in the Philippines and Puerto Rico following the Spanish-American War.

It can be seen in the online exhibit, titled, “Empire’s Eyes: Colonial Stereographs of the Philippines.”
