School of Business Celebrates Beta Gamma Sigma Inductees, Honoree

The St. John Fisher College School of Business inducted 28 students into Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the international honor society for exceptional business students and scholars, during a formal ceremony held on Friday, April 6.

Students ranking in the top 10 percent of the baccalaureate and top 20 percent of graduate programs at schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International are eligible. The inductees join an expanding worldwide network of more than 625,000 outstanding business professionals who have earned recognition through lifetime membership in BGS.

The following students were inducted into BGS:

• Sophomores: Anthony Brophy, Mallory Eymer, Justin Graham, Garrett Litvak, Mary Grace Paoletti, and Chelsea Stellwagen
• Juniors: Samantha Bartolone, Zachary Cicchini, Eric Green, Ryan Paolini, Emily Risch, Kate Schwartz, and Sarah Zulawski
• Seniors: Timothy Canfield, Shanon Cehaja, Christina DiSano, Benjamin Graniero, Douglas Mendenhall, John O’Connor, Anthony Scarcelli, Benjamin Stallman, Jay Upadhyaya, Steven Warren, and Megan Yeaple
• MBA: Victoria Richardson, David Spagnola, Marissa Stack (this is a second induction for Stack, who was invited to join as an undergraduate student), and Karl Williams

During the ceremony, the School recognized Kathleen R. Whelehan, president and chief executive officer, The Upstate Bank, as the 2018 Beta Gamma Sigma honoree, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to the values of the honor society.  In her keynote speech, Whelehan encouraged the new inductees to think about courageous leadership and taking risks.

Dr. Jason Berman also announced that senior Steven Warren would serve as the 2018- 2019 BGS president, while sophomore Chelsea Stellwagen would serve as vice president.
