On Friday, Jan. 11, members of the St. John Fisher College community kicked off the College’s Staff Recognition program with a donuts and cider event.

The program showcases staff accomplishments and recognizes characteristics including integrity, Fisher spirit, genuineness, professional and personal ethics, self-discipline, and initiative. This year, the Committee revised its awards program to feature three categories of recognition. The nominating period is now open for each award.

Soaring Cardinal Award: Recognizes someone who goes ABOVE and BEYOND the expectations of their daily role … someone who soars to aspirational heights and serves as a shining example of the Cardinal spirit. The Committee will vote to award Soaring Cardinal Awards to several top-scoring nominees. Award winners will be announced at the annual Staff Recognition Award Ceremony in the spring.

NOMINATE A STAFF MEMBER FOR A SOARING CARDINAL AWARD

Wings Up Awards: Recognizes someone who exemplifies the Cardinal spirit in all they do within their role at Fisher. All staff nominated for Wings Up Awards will be recognized during Staff Recognition events planned throughout the year.

NOMINATE A STAFF MEMBER FOR A WINGS UP AWARD

Basilian Award: Recognizes an outstanding nominee who encompasses all of the characteristics of a Soaring Cardinal; the Basilian motto of goodness, discipline, and knowledge; and has performed a service or given of themselves in a way that far exceeds that of everyday generosity. The Basilian Award might not be awarded every year and could be awarded to more than one recipient at the discretion of the Staff Recognition Committee in consultation with Father Mannara as a representative of the Basilian Fathers. To nominate an employee for consideration for a Basilian Award, email staffrecognitionprogram@sjfc.edu.

Eligible members for each award include all staff employees (non-faculty). Examples include coaches, facilities and housekeeping staff, Library and OIT personnel, all academic and departmental personnel, and Safety and Security staff and bus drivers, among others.

Non-eligible members include faculty, members of Fisher Dining Services, student employees, and temporary or contract employees.

Award winners and nominees will be recognized during a College-wide celebration at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in Cleary Family Auditorium.

The 2018-2019 Staff Recognition Committee includes Kristin Anderson, Jacquelyn Bokor, Tammy Chmiel, Karen Costantini, Monica Gebhardt, Matt Lake, Alexander Liebowitz, Sarah Mancini-Goebert, Kathleen Maurer, Renee Morano, Jen Pluretti, Jill Rathbun, Elizabeth Rizzolo, Kate Ross, Sara Vinch, and Brittany Zeager.
