Students Gain Industry Insight through Internships

February 4, 2019

A hallmark of Fisher’s sport management program continues to be the engaging internship and practicum experiences students have throughout the academic year.

Each summer, Fisher students intern at the Buffalo Bills Training Camp, which is held on campus.

Throughout the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters, students will gain real-world insight into the sport industry at dozens of organizations in Rochester, Batavia, Utica, and beyond.

Pat Gordon, director of experiential learning and outreach, said that the success of the internship and practicum program is due in large part to the close relationships the department has with industry professionals across the country.

“Our partners continue to play a vital role in shaping the next generation of sport industry professionals and we rely on them to provide guidance and specialized training to our students,” said Gordon. “During the 2018-19 academic year we have had 197 unique industry touch points that aided learning in the classroom and in the field.  We look forward to strengthening those relationships and continuing to build new ones next year.”

Any organizations wishing to partner with the department can email Gordon at pgordon@sjfc.edu or call (585) 385-7376.
