Swiencicki, Lowe Participate in Rhetoric Society Retreat

From May 30 to June 2, Dr. Jill Swiencicki, associate professor of English and interim director of the First-Year Writing Program, was a participant in the Rhetoric Society of America's Career Retreat for Associate Professors.
The career retreat was offered as part of the Rhetoric Society’s Biennial Meeting, and aimed to identify barriers to professional advancement after tenure and promotion, and support faculty as they set and realize their goals for scholarship.
Swiencicki is now part of an international support system and writing group, composed of peers from the University of Winnipeg and the University of Colorado, who will serve as writing group members and advisers. Dr. Barbara Lowe, associate professor of philosophy, also participated in the retreat, and will work in a writing/advising group with faculty from Michigan State University.
