Linking to Content From Outside T4 Video

The following training video will show you how to determine the ID number of a specific piece of content, so that you can link directly to that content outside of T4 [video length: 00:03:00].

Scenario

Each piece of content on a page has a unique ID number that can be used to link directly to that content from outside of T4.

Each piece of content on a page has a unique ID number that can be used to link directly to that content from outside of T4.

You want to link outside of T4 to a specific piece of content inside T4.

For example, imagine you want to email a link to the specific content related to "Document Title Missing" on the Policy Matches in Siteimprove page, as shown in the screenshot.

Solution

Since the information you want to link to is its own piece of content, that content has a unique ID number that you can use in your link from the email. The formula for a link to a particular piece of content is as follows:

www.sjfc.edu/[full-path-to-page]/#d.en.XXXXX (where XXXXX is the ID number)

Finding the ID Number

Follow the instructions below to find the ID number of your piece of content.

  1. Open up a piece of general content. Act like you are going to insert a content link on a page.
  2. Navigate to the page that the content lives on and click on the page name.
  3. You'll be presented with a list of all the content on that page. The number in the gray bubble to the right of the piece of content you want is the ID number you need. In this case, the ID number is 28711. Take note of the ID number and cancel out of the content.
To find the ID number of a piece of content, go through the process of inserting a content link in a general piece of content, navigate to the page containing the content, and take note of the ID number associated with the content you want to link to.

Putting it Together

Once you have the ID number, add it to the full URL of the page containing the content, being sure to precede the ID number with #d.en. In this example, the link to the intended piece of content is: https://www.sjfc.edu/training/siteimprove-training/policy-matches/#d.en.28711
