Update an Existing Document in the T4 Media Library
If your document already exists in the Media Library and you just need to upload a new version, the process is easy!
Note: If your document does not currently exist in the Media Library, follow the instructions on how to upload a new document.
Update Existing Document Training Video
The following training video covers the basics of updating a document that already exists in the T4 Media Library [video length: 00:01:35].
Note: The video accidentally refers to the file name in this example as T4MediaGuide; the file name is actually T4TrainingGuide.
Confirm the Document File Name
Make sure that the file name of the document you are uploading is EXACTLY the same as the file name of the document already in the T4 Media Library.
This is the most important step in the process! For an explanation of why confirming the file name is so important, refer to the information on document file names.
If you need to find out what a document's current file name is, navigate to the document in the Media Library and click on the link in the Name column. The file name will be on the second line of the Preview section of the Media Details screen, as shown below. In this example, the document file name is T4TrainingGuide.
Note: You do not need the file extension (.pdf, .doc, etc.) in your file name.
Prepare Your Document for Upload
Make sure you have saved a version of the document you will be updating with the exact file name you confirmed in the step above. In addition, make sure the document has a meaningful title and has been optimized by reducing the file size.
Overwrite the Existing Document
Navigate to your document in the Media Library and click on the link in the Name column.
From the Media Details screen, drag the file into the area labeled "Drop file here or click to choose." As the instructions imply, you can also click in this area to browse to your document. If you are tracking versions or upload dates using the Description field, make those updates now.
Scroll down and click the Save changes button to complete the process.
