Financial Aid at Fisher

In determining financial aid, "financial need" is the difference between the cost of attending Fisher and your family contribution, as determined from information supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Here is a simple formula of how it works:

Cost of Attendance - Family Contribution = Financial Need

The financial aid we award comes from a variety of sources—the final result being a "package" of several types of aid. Depending on your particular situation, your financial aid award may include funds from scholarships, federal and/or state grants, student loans, or student employment (College Work Study Program).

Scholarships and Grants

Scholarships and grants are considered "gift" aid. Scholarships are generally awarded based on past academic achievement and do not have to be paid back. Grants are generally awarded based on financial need and also do not need to be repaid.

Loans and Student Employment

Student loans and student employment (College Work Study Program) are considered "self-help" aid. Student loans are low-interest federal loans that a student begins repaying after graduation. College Work Study earnings from part-time employment on campus can be used toward educational expenses. Parent loans are also available regardless of family income. Most financial aid packages include some form of self-help aid.
