Let’s Chop It Up

Engage in a lyrical analysis and thematic reflection on Blackness, vulnerability, and relationships in Jay-Z's 4:44 album.

Date: Thursday, February 22, 2024
Time: 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Location: COP Conference Room, Campus Center

Each Thursday throughout February review one song from Jay-Z's 4:44 album and his associated footnotes video. Discussion may be free flowing and follow the reflections of the group or use guided prompts to support sharing.

Each week will also include an opportunity to build community, review the values and needs for a brave space, and share food.

*The album has a theme of vulnerability and touches on topics like protecting our emotions, racism, pain and growth in relationships, absence, and learning through love. The focus is connection through lyrics. Sharing reflections is welcomed and always by choice. You will never be called upon to share or expected to express your reflections verbally. Listening and being in community with one another is a powerful method of connecting.*
