CRNA Application Process
Application Details
- Applications for the dual degree AGACNP and CRNA program will be accepted each year from February 1 until April 1.
- No application fee.

Program Eligibility
Admission to the dual-degree AGACNP and CRNA post-baccalaureate program is limited to qualified students who:
- Have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0. GPA of 3.3 preferred.
- Have earned grades of B or higher in the following undergraduate courses: health assessment, research (evidence-based practice), and statistics.
- Have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Have a NYS license as a registered nurse. If you have an active RN license in another state, you must provide confirmation that your application for licensure in NYS is pending approval at the time of application. Acceptance will be conditional until you obtain a NYS license.
- Have a minimum of one year of critical care experience and currently employed part-time or full-time in a Fisher-accepted ICU setting with current certification in ACLS, BLS, and PALS at the time of application.
- Fisher accepts critical care experience from Adult ICUs including CCU/CVICU, MICU, Neuro ICU, SICU, and Trauma ICU. PICU is the only pediatric experience accepted. NICU, ER, OR, and PACU experiences will not be accepted. Additionally, adult ICU experience outside of the United States or its territories will only be considered if gained within a US military hospital.
Application Materials Needed
- Completed online application.
- Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work. (For the quickest transcript processing, please contact each institution attended and request an official transcript with electronic delivery to St. John Fisher University.)
- Current résumé.
- Unencumbered RN license in NYS
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- CCRN certification (recommended but not required)
- Two recommendations. You will be prompted to assign your recommenders within the online application.
- One reference must be from a current nurse manager or medical director from your ICU of employment.
- One reference must be from an advanced practice nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, or critical care physician.
- Professional Education Statement that includes:
- Your reasons for applying to the CRNA program.
- Your long- and short-term educational and professional goals and how the CRNA program will help you reach those goals.
- How your degree will enhance your experience.
- How you plan to accommodate the program’s rigorous curriculum with all of your competing activities and doctoral study.
- The population you would like to focus on for your CRNA project and describe one clinical problem related to the population that your project will help address.
- How, as a doctorally prepared advanced practice nurse, you will contribute (e.g., through education, research, and practice) to enhance the health and quality of life for people of all cultures, economic levels, and geographic locations.

Interview Process
Selected applicants will receive information on how to schedule an interview after the submission and review of a completed application. A maximum of 60 finalists will be accepted for interviews per year. Interviews will be conducted on campus, in person. No Zoom options will be made available. During the interview, you will meet with the nurse anesthesia faculty members. Expect the interview to last about 90 minutes. Interviewees should expect to take a short quiz.
