Dara Berkwits has been an Adjunct Professor with the School of Education since 2022. She has a bachelor's degree in behavioral science from Mercy College, a master's in childhood education with an emphasis on special education, and a master's of library science from University at Buffalo. Dara has been in the field of education since 2010, first a classroom teacher in grades K and 3 ICT before moving into school library. During her first few years in school library, Dara served over 800 students in grades PK-5 in a Title I school in the Bronx. Currently, Dara is the school librarian in a suburban high school in Putnam County, NY where she serves approximately 1400 student and just under 200 staff members. She is also the school's building technology leader which blends nicely with her school librarian role.
