Robert Finnerty 1955, Army

Many 1957 grads were veterans of the Korean War when they enrolled. They were serious and focused men.

Michael Casella 1956, Army

Served from September 1956 until September 1958, stateside. His assignment was chaplain's assistant, however he never served in that capacity. Instead, he sang with a traveling all-soldier show, entertaining troops and others.

Norm Rickard 1958, Army

Norm served in the army in Germany for two years.

Alumni 1960-1969

John Redmond 1961, Navy

John served during the Korean War era on the USS Yellowstone for six months and on the minesweeper USS Dominant for six months in the Mediterranean during the Korean War Era. 

Donald Macio Giorgi 1961, Army

Don was killed in action and is recognized at the Vietnam Memorial at Highland Park.

Frank DeLucia 1962, Army

Frank served in the Army, 1963-1969.

John Miller 1963, Marines

Jack served for four years and was discharged as a captain. He was stationed in Virginia.

Gerry Sokolski 1963, Navy

Gerry with the rank of commander after 22 years of active and reserve service.

Tom Melville 1965, Navy

Tom served four years of active duty, 1966-1970, then 23 more years 1970-1993 in the Naval Reserve Intelligence Command.  All were honorable. He retired at the rank of commander.  His specialty was military intelligence, especially aviation.

John Tani 1966, Air Force

John was a Distinguished Graduate of the USAF Officer Training school and served in both the Air National Guard and Air Force for seven years.

John Connelly 1966, Air Force

John was an officer in the US Air Force from 1966 to 1971. He was an air traffic control officer and, for three years, he was the commander of a 27-man air traffic control unit at Chievres Air Base in Belgium. For the last two years of his service, John was a captain.

Tom served in Vietnam from 1966-1969.

Daniel Kubiak 1966, Army

Daniel was drafted after graduating from Fisher and served in the army from 1966 until 1969.

 

George Davin 1966, Army

George served as a criminal investigator in the U.S. Army 5th Military Police Division (CID) at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri, serving 1967-1969.

Thomas Way 1966, Army

Tom joined the Army following graduation and was deployed to Vietnam. He was killed in action. A sculpture created in his honor is located on campus.

Dick Updaw 1967, Marines

Dick was an officer in Vietnam and served at the “Point of the Spear.”

Tony was a proud Fisher graduate. and was among the first to have his wedding ceremony held at Fisher.

Larry proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War era.

Eugene Blackburn 1968, Army

Gene served in the U.S. Army Artillery and was deployed to Tuy Hoa, Vietnam from March 1969 to March 1970 in the 6th Bn 32nd Artillery Div. as an artillery fire direction control technician.

Robert Tuschong 1968, Army

Robert served in Vietnam and is a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

Jack Dailey 1968, Army

Jack was drafted and served in Korea during the Vietnam War era.

Jim served in Vietnam for the 2nd LT 101St Airborne Division, company commander.

Hugh served from 1970-1976.

Benedikt Kellner 1969, Army

Benedikt was drafted June 1970 and served 13 months in Vietnam at Can Tho Army Airfield (Mekong Delta).

Gerald Grace 1969, Army

Gerald served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1969 to 1973 and was honorably discharged. He was a combat medic. Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, and a medical corpsman at Brooks Army Hospital.

George Nestler 1970, Air Force

Served in the Air Force for five years and was stationed at Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY and at RAF Lakenheath, UK.

John Walsh 1970, Air Force

John served in the U.S. Air Force, 1970-1993, and retired as a Lt. Col.

Thomas Taraba 1970, Air Force

Tom served in the U.S. Air Force, 1970-1990, and retired as a Lt Col. He died in 2008.

Charlie flew in Vietnam.

David was Army infantry, serving in Vietnma, 1970-1972.

John learned he was drafted via radio on his birthday as a Fisher student. He was trained as an interregator.

Dan served as judge advocate for five years, trying courts-martial and providing legal assistance to servicemen and their families.

Joseph served active duty from 1974-1978 in the U. S. Navy dental corps, attaining the rank of LCDR.

Joseph was 1LT. 4 Inf Div Vietnam from 1967-1969, earning the Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals.

Jim spent six years in the Marines in force reconnaissance.

Al Hoffend 1980, Air Force

Al served as an instructor and member of a helicopter combat search-and-rescue team out of Tan Son Nhut Air base outside Saigon South Vietnam.

Craig Kubik 1980, Air Force

Craig served seven years as a physician, including seven months in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm.

Charles (Chuck) Latham 1980, Air Force

Chuck served his country honorably for several years after graduation. He continues to serve his community and country in many ways today as a pastor with a prison ministry.

Mark lives a life of service to others.

Geraldine Howe 1981, Marines

Geraldine served 1959 through 1961 at Paris Island, SC, and Cherry Point, NC.

Steven Momano 1983, Navy

Steven was a career Naval Intelligence Officer. He graduated Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1985 and attended Armed Forces Air Intelligence Training at Lowry AFB, CO.  He was deployed twice to the Mediterranean Sea with Navy Attack Squadron FIFTY-FIVE (VA-55), NAS Oceana, VA. with a follow-on tour as watch officer/analyst with Navy Anti-Terrorism Alert Center. He later served as narcotics liaison officer/analyst to the Department of Treasury, U.S. Customs Service, Chicago, IL.  Steven spent the next 13 years as an intelligence training and administration officer, managing Naval Reservists in Michigan and Illinois. He did back-to-back reserve management tours in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He also had reserve management tours at the Defense Intelligence Agency with a final tour as commanding officer, DIA Navy Element and director, Joint Military Intelligence Training Center. He retired as a captain in November 2008.

Timothy Streb 1983, Army

Tim served on active duty from 1965 to 1972, and then in the Army Reserve until December 2004. Retired with the rank of sergeant major.

Thomas Disbro 1984, Navy

Thomas graduated in 1984 with a B.A. in economics and was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy that same month. He served on the USS Claude V. Ricketts from 1985 to 1988, when he was honorably discharged from active duty at the rank of lieutenant.  During his time on board the Ricketts, he was first the electrical division officer, and then the communications officer.  He earned his Surface Warfare Officer qualification during his time on board. He completed a six-month cruise around South America in 1985, and another six-month cruise in the Mediterranean Sea in 1987-88.

Larry Northup 1984, Army

Larry honorably served for more than 23 years, seeing duty in Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East with combat duty in Panama, Kuwait, and Iraq. He received a Bronze Star for actions in Operation Iraqi Freedom and honorably retired in 2009.

Joe Biehler 1987, Army

John served in the Army National Guard for over 37 years, retiring in 2024 as a major general.

Kenneth Kula 1990, Navy

Kenneth left the Navy in March of 1990, shortly before Operation Desert Shield.

Andrew McVeigh 1993, Marines

Andrew played football and went to St. John Fisher while being in the Marine Corps.

David DiNolfo 1994, Marines

David played football and attended Fisher while serving in the US Marine Corps.

Alumni 2000-2009

Lona Edgecombe 2000 and Mark Sommer ’92, Army

Lona and Mark Sommer ’92 met at Officer's Candidate School, brought together by their shared experiences - though in different times - as Fisher students. The two have been great friends ever since.

W. James Whelan 2005, Army

Jim served as a captain in the infantry.

Robert Eisenhart 2005, Army

Bobby graduated Magna Cum Laude and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army the same year. He served from 2005 to 2011, rising to the rank of captain. He served in Balad, Iraq with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Bobby is currently associate director of manufacturing for The Boston Beer Company. He resides with in Mertztown, PA with his wife and two children.

Joe Marino 2007, Navy

Joe served from 1989 to 1998 as an advanced electronics technician and fire controlman. During his service, he maintained complex systems on powerful vessels, playing a critical role in operational readiness and national defense. A veteran of the Gulf War, the Bosnian campaign, and the Somalia campaign, his military career took him across the globe in support of key U.S. and allied missions during a pivotal era in modern history. Joe was honorably discharged in 1998. He now serves as an information technologies administrator and software developer.

Charles Carroll Jr. 2007, Army

Charles served for four years and was stationed in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Alex Terrance 2008, Marines

Alex served in the Middle East. After being honorably discharged, he embarked on a career in education, serving as a history teacher and administrator.

Shane Luther 2010, Army

Shane served from 2010-2013 on tours in South Korea and Afghanistan.

Kenny Rothfuss 2013, Navy

Kenny served for eight years and was deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Eddie Gonzalez 2014, Marines

Served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1987-1991 with a tour in Desert Storm.

David Barker 2020, Navy

David earned his MBA at Fisher after serving on board the USS Rushmore. He now works as a financial analyst for Rabo AgriFinance and lives with his wife and three children in the Raleigh, NC, area.
