Vivek S. Dave, Ph.D., MBA, is Professor and Chair in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John Fisher University’s Wegmans School of Pharmacy. He is a dynamic academic leader with extensive experience in pharmacy education across both campus and online pathways, with a strong commitment to student success, faculty development, and continuous program improvement.
Dr. Dave’s scholarly work centers on excipient characterization and functionality, contemporary approaches to enhance drug delivery (e.g., solubility, permeability, dissolution), non-invasive/ultrasonic methods to assess tablet quality attributes, and research in extemporaneously compounded preparations.
In addition to his academic leadership at SJF, Dr. Dave serves in national professional leadership roles, including as Chair of the USP Expert Committee (Excipients Monographs 1) (2025–2030 cycle) and Vice Chair of the USP Expert Committee (Simple Excipients). He also contributes to the profession through editorial and peer-review service, including appointments on editorial advisory boards and as an invited reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals in pharmaceutical sciences.
