What to Expect at the Writing and Tutoring Center

Individual Tutoring Appointments

  • Students may receive one hour of individual tutoring for each course per week.
  • Bring course materials and any questions or concerns about course content to your tutoring sessions.

How Tutors Can Help

Please understand that tutors do not have access to the answers for assignments and are not permitted to help with take-home tests and quizzes or complete homework for their students. Tutors will guide students toward a deeper understanding of concepts and will work on helping each student build their skills in approaching the material.

If You Need to Cancel an Appointment

If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify your peer tutor at least 3 hours prior to the appointment start time—24 hours’ notice is preferred. You may also contact the Writing and Tutoring Center director if you need help canceling and rescheduling your appointment.

Group Sessions

Some courses offer group sessions guided by tutors for additional support.

Some courses offer group sessions guided by tutors for additional support.

Students who are enrolled in courses that offer group support may attend as many group review sessions per week as they’d like. Not all courses have weekly group review options. For a list of group offerings, please contact the Writing and Tutoring Center director. Bring any questions or concerns about course content to group sessions and learn from peers’ questions as well. It is helpful to bring course materials and electronic devices to work on during group sessions.

Students do not need to make FisherLink requests or appointments for group sessions.
