Application Details

Program Eligibility

  • Applicants must have a minimum of one year of clinical experience as a registered nurse at the time of application and be currently employed as an RN in a clinical setting.
  • Applicants must also have an active unencumbered RN license in the state in which they are employed as an RN and intend to complete their APRN clinical experiences. (You do not need to submit this license. Admissions will verify your license through the NYS online verification system.)
  • Admission consideration is for applicants with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher, with preference to applicants with a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
  • Grades of B or higher are required in the following undergraduate courses: health assessment, research, and statistics.
  • Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) applicants must hold current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification and have a minimum of one year of current acute care clinical experience.
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program applicants are encouraged to have clinical experience in this specialty.
  • Post-master's certificate students must present an official transcript showing completion of a master's degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program.

Application Materials Needed

  • Completed application for on-campus program

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work. (For the quickest transcript processing, please contact each institution attended and request an official transcript with electronic delivery to St. John Fisher University.)
  • Two recommendations. These should be from colleagues or supervisors who are qualified at the master's level or higher in nursing (APRNs preferred; NP or CNS). Reference must note their highest degree with their signature. (You will be prompted to assign your recommenders within the online application.)
  • Current résumé.
  • Recorded interview via the Kira Talent Platform. (Once your application is submitted an email invite will be sent to you to begin your recorded interview.)
