Mission and Vision for Community-Engaged Learning

Vision

Our students graduate prepared and motivated to make meaningful contributions in Rochester and beyond.

Mission

Participation in civic engagement enables Fisher students to gain the knowledge, skills, and perspectives needed to become contributing citizens in a diverse and complex society. Sustained collaborations with community partners result in asset building and positive community change.

Community-engaged learning at Fisher:

  • Supports students' development of academic knowledge and skills, civic and cultural awareness, and communication and professional skills, to meet course and University-wide learning goals.
  • Enables students and faculty to share resources and expertise, in collaboration with community partners, to develop solutions to identified issues facing local and global communities.
  • Provides students, faculty, and community partners with training, resources, funding, and recognition for high impact civic engagement, mutually beneficial partnerships, and engaged scholarship across the disciplines.
