Psychology Academic Opportunities

Psychology Fieldwork

As a psychology major, you are eligible to earn course credit for applied experiences beyond your academic coursework by engaging in fieldwork. Students may take a fieldwork course for 1–6 credits. In addition, the course may be taken twice.

During a fieldwork placement, you are required to work 3 hours per credit, per week (e.g., 9 hours a week for students enrolled in 3 credits) for 13 weeks at a public or private agency. Every effort will be made to find a placement or placements that are relevant to your career goals.

Psychology Club

The Psychology Club is designed to enlighten the St. John Fisher University community through psychologically related events. The club’s purpose is to get students campus-wide to become interested and aware of psychology and how it is part of our everyday lives. Members strive to create entertaining and intriguing events that are open to the campus as a whole.

Psi Chi Honor Society

The department has an active chapter of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology. This organization brings interested students together for psychology-related lectures, activities, discussions, and trips.
