Abby Standera ’17
Geneseo native Abby Standera ’17 had a big interest in big data. A graduate of the statistics program with minors in psychology and economics, she says her favorite courses included Linear Regression, Probability Modeling, and Introduction to Java.
“I liked these classes because they were challenging and allowed me to develop my problem-solving and analytical skills,” Abby explained, adding that the small class sizes allow students to create personal connections with professors and classmates.
In addition to her coursework, Abby served as an actuarial intern with Excellus BCBS in Rochester, and conducted statistical research with Dr. Evan Blaine. She hopes this experience will help her pursue a career in data analytics.
