#ClubCorner: CAC is Kicking Cancer to the Curb

October 19, 2020

This week, College New’s #ClubCorner features Colleges against Cancer. Also known as CAC, this club provides students with the opportunity to get involved with fun events that celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all.

This year, CAC’s executive board members include Emma Pyrak, president; Cheyenne Ernst, vice president; Carson Evankovich, treasurer; Kyle Link, secretary; and Amy Gardner, marketing coordinator. Christian Kendziora, Niko Saunders, and Sarah Storsberg are serving as this year’s relay coordinators.

While CAC plans many activities throughout the year, their signature program is the annual Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society of Rochester. The mission is to raise funds to improve cancer survival, decrease the incidence of cancer, and improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their caretakers. This year, Relay for Life will take place virtually via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram from Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6. Throughout each day, posts will feature the traditional Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back ceremonies, guest speakers, and entertainment.

CAC has also planned a virtual walkathon, beginning Sunday, Nov. 1 through Friday, Dec. 4. They will also host flag football games, bingo, restaurant fundraisers, and cancer awareness events throughout the year as well.
