Last week, more than 110 members of the Class of 2025 - the largest class in the history of the Wegmans School of Pharmacy - were officially welcomed into the pharmacy profession.

The class, which includes 50 students from the campus pathway and more than 60 from the online pathway, engaged in a weeklong immersion experience featuring workshops, networking events, and team-building activities designed to introduce them to the School of Pharmacy and the culture of the profession.

“We were so pleased to welcome students from both the campus pathway and online pathway to campus for our in-person orientation and immersion activities,” said Dr. Christine Birnie, dean of the School. “The experience they gained and relationships they developed throughout the week helped to provide a strong foundation for the next four years of the program.”

On Wednesday, the students engaged in a Day of Service in the community, volunteering at 10 organizations around Rochester. Students helped sort and fill backpacks for refugee children heading to school this month, while others tended to gardens at the Equicenter, among other activities.

The culminating event of the week was the White Coat Ceremony, a rite of passage that celebrates the successful start of the students’ first semester at the School and formally welcomes them into the pharmacy profession. As is tradition, to conclude the ceremony, members of the Class of 2025 recited the Oath of a Pharmacist.
