Artist Talk Celebrates O’Keefe Ross Gallery Exhibit
This fall, the Patricia O'Keefe Ross Gallery, located in the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center at St. John Fisher University, has featured “Veil,” a collection of artwork by Tricia Butski.
A closing reception and artist talk celebrating the exhibition will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, in the Gallery. Through drawings rendered in charcoal, graphite, and ink, Butski’s work examines issues related to memory by exploring its limitations and aestheticizing the instability inherent in portraiture. By challenging the boundaries between representation and abstraction, and questioning the relationship between fluctuation and constancy, the works become entangled and distorted, mirroring the viewer’s innate desire for clarity and their proclivity for drawing meaning out of partiality.
Butski is an artist and educator based in Buffalo, New York. Trained in drawing and painting, she holds a BFA from SUNY Fredonia and an MFA from the University at Buffalo. She is currently a resident artist at Buffalo Arts Studio and fine art teacher at Buffalo Seminary High School.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
