20 Years of Courage: Courage Bowl Celebrates 20th Year at Fisher

September 26, 2025

The St. John Fisher University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that individual tickets are now available for purchase for the Courage Bowl XX. The annual game will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Growney Stadium as the Cardinals take on SUNY Brockport during Family Weekend.

Fisher Football team runs across the football field for the Courage Bowl.

This beloved football tradition benefits Camp Good Days and Special Times, an organization that has served children with cancer and their families for more than four decades, and one that is close to the hearts of many Fisher students, employees, and alumni.

Now in its 20th year, the Courage Bowl – coined “more than just a game” – has become one of Camp’s largest fundraisers since it began. Tickets can be purchased online (there will be no cash sales; all tickets - advanced or at the door – are processed using an online system).

During the kick-off luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 30, Gary Mervis, founder of Camp Good Days, will present the Father Joe Lanzalaco Memorial Courage Award, named for Fr. Joe Lanzalaco, Fisher’s longtime director of campus ministry and ardent Fisher football fan. The award is given annually to individuals who have shown courage, strength, and determination to others. The honorary coaches and cheerleaders from Camp Good Days will also be announced during the luncheon and will have a chance to practice with each team in the days leading up to the big game.

Fisher’s Teddi Committee is also getting involved in supporting the Courage Bowl and Camp Good Days. To kick off the week, the committee is holding a car wash on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. in the James S. Alesi Academic Center parking lot. As part of Family Weekend, the committee will also hold the annual Teddi Trot on Sunday, Oct 5. Participants can register on-site that morning at the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the run will kick-off at 9 a.m. Registration is $15 and includes a t-shirt. Participants are also welcome to walk! Funds raised at both events will support Camp Good Days.
