Pharmacy Class of 2029 Earn their White Coats
More than 70 first-year students from the Wegmans School of Pharmacy’s campus and online pathways received their white coats during an annual ceremony that marks the official start of their pharmacy education. The ceremony was held on Friday, Aug.29, following a week of immersion and orientation for students.
In front of family, friends, and the greater University community, each student was presented with a white coat, symbolic of their entrance into the pharmacy profession.
Dr. Dina Jazrawi, executive director of the New York State Board of Pharmacy, delivered the ceremony’s keynote address. To cap off the event, members of the Class of 2029 joined together in reciting the Oath of a Pharmacist.
President Rooney also welcomed the new students, encouraging them to make the most of their Fisher and School of Pharmacy experience.
“As you begin to immerse yourself, I invite you to embrace our institutional values of goodness, discipline, and knowledge. Engage in your studies and your experience as Fisher pharmacy students – whether you are here on campus with us or experiencing the online pathway. Take advantage of the opportunities that you are presented. Have an impact on those around you, on our great institution, and on the communities where you live,” he said. “My hope is that you experience all that comes with a collaborative community like ours – and that at your commencement, you will feel the pride that comes as a result of fully investing in yourself and your preparation for the essential role you will play in the pharmacy profession as a Fisher pharmacist.”
