Relay for Life Presents a Carnival for a Cure

April 1, 2019

Colleges Against Cancer at St. John Fisher College will host Relay for Life, the annual 12-hour cancer awareness walk-a-thon, from noon to midnight on Saturday, April 6, in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center.

Cancer survivors walk a lap during the 2018 Relay for Life.

“We want this year’s event to have a wider reach than ever before. Our fundraising goal is $30,000,” said Molly Zies, a senior who serves as the Relay coordinator, who said this was the most ambitious fundraising goal Fisher students have set to date.

Currently in its 17th year, Relay raises funds for cancer research through the American Cancer Society and aims to unite those who affected by the disease. Proceeds also benefit Hope Lodge in Rochester.

The event will have a carnival theme; complete with classic treats including cotton candy, fried dough, and snow cones. Fun for all ages, the event features games and activities like Whack-A-Mole.

Pre-registration is $15, and can be completed online by visiting the Relay for Life webpage (relayforlife.org/sjfc). Walk-in registration is $20.
