Countdown to Commencement 2026: Aidan Conover

April 6, 2026

This week’s “Countdown to Commencement” series features Aidan Conover, an inclusive adolescence education major, nominated by Dr. Kristen Driskill, associate professor of inclusive education.

Conover has always had a natural connection to numbers and a passion for teaching. Working with students brings him a sense of calm and purpose, and those experiences have only strengthened his confidence in choosing Fisher. Encouraged by his older sister, a Fisher alumna, he quickly discovered that it was the right place for him.

One of the most impactful parts of his journey has been his involvement as a NOYCE Scholar. Through the program, he has received additional training while working with students in rural districts experiencing poverty, which he says has shaped his understanding of equity in education and deepened his commitment to serving communities that need strong educators the most.

He has contributed to campus life through his work on the Career Services Student Advisory Board and by serving as a math tutor.
In fall 2025, Conover was inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society. Each inductee was honored with a personalized speech prepared by faculty, a heartfelt surprise that reminded him how deeply Fisher professors invest in their students.

Over the past four years, Conover has also served as a student ambassador, helping prospective students discover what makes Fisher special. During his junior year, he joined the Orientation team and later became an Orientation leader. The role helped him build confidence and form meaningful relationships.

Driskill is confident that Conover will continue to exceed expectations as he steps into his career as a teacher, carrying his Fisher legacy forward through his commitment to his future students. “Aidan’s legacy at Fisher is one of scholarship and service, marked by his dedication to math education and his ability to provide rich instructional experiences for his students,” she said.
