Countdown to Commencement 2026: Brett Seaman

February 16, 2026

This week’s “Countdown to Commencement” series features Brett Seaman, a pharmaceutical chemistry major nominated by Associate Professor Kevin Callahan.

Seaman knew early on that Fisher was the right fit. From his first visit, the campus felt like home, and the support he received helped him pursue a path inspired by a former teacher who sparked his interest in pharmaceutical chemistry.

During his time at Fisher, Seaman has conducted research with Dr. Fang Zhao, professor emerita in the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, joining a project that was later published in LCGC International. He then launched his own research initiative, which was shared with Rochester Regional Health and directly influenced how the hospital manages certain hypertension medications, an impact that has reached patient care in a meaningful way.

Reflecting on the experience, Seaman shared, “The growth from the two years of research is definitely something I suggest because it helps you think as your own person, critically, but also helps you in the long run work in a team.”

Seaman gained industry experience as a summer intern at Bausch and Lomb in their R&D nutritional group. He credits the mentorship and relationships he built there as essential to his growth.

As a dedicated student‑athlete, he has competed on the men’s lacrosse team for all four years and serves as captain during his senior season, an honor he describes as incredibly meaningful.

“Fisher has taught me a lot about how to challenge myself, both from the athletic side and the school side,” he said.

Callahan praises Seaman’s thoughtful and deliberate approach to his future. “Brett is a methodical and thoughtful person, and he’ll take his time deciding what his long‑term path looks like.”
