Countdown to Commencement 2026: Rachel Ferris
This week’s “Countdown to Commencement” features Rachel Ferris, a nursing major nominated by Jasmine Monroe, assistant director of student engagement and leadership.
Ferris knew she wanted to stay true to her roots as a caring, service‑driven person, and nursing became the perfect path at Fisher. She takes pride in being recognized as a “Fisher nurse,” a title she carries with her into clinical settings.
Her leadership roles on campus have introduced her to people from all backgrounds and experiences. As a Fuld Scholar (supported by the Helen Fuld Health Trust), Ferris has had the opportunity to tutor younger students and build meaningful one‑on‑one relationships with faculty. These connections have strengthened her commitment to Fisher’s supportive, community‑focused environment.
Ferris also serves on the Student Activities Board (SAB), where she works to create a welcoming and engaging campus experience for students seeking connection and involvement. Among her favorite Fisher traditions is Orientation, a team she has been a part of as well.
Another accomplishment Ferris holds close is becoming an EMT during her sophomore year. Serving in this role has allowed her to be a steady, compassionate presence during some of the most difficult moments in people’s lives. She also supported the Club Hockey team as a stand‑by EMT, gaining hands-on experience while building relationships with the players.
“Being a leader here at Fisher has really shaped me as a person,” Ferris said. “Being able to give back and support my community has been amazing.”
Monroe praises Ferris for her resilience and heart. “She has overcome many adversities but never fails to show up. She has so much dedication to what she does, and she does everything with compassion for others. Her journey reflects the very best of Fisher,” said Monroe.
