Countdown to Commencement 2026: Victoria Howard

March 16, 2026

This week’s featured student in the “Countdown to Commencement” series is Victoria Howard, a psychology major nominated by Chris Keyes, director of student engagement and leadership.

Howard felt an immediate sense of belonging when she first visited Fisher. Having spent time at many Fisher football games to cheer on her older brother, she entered college already familiar with the supportive community that would soon shape her own Fisher experience.

One of the most meaningful parts of her time at Fisher has been her involvement in the Teddi Dance for Love. Over her four years, she has served as a committee member, captain, vice chair, and now chair. The organization has been a constant source of connection and purpose, giving her the opportunity to collaborate with students, faculty, and peers who share a passion for the event’s mission. She describes the experience as deeply fulfilling, both for the relationships she has built and the leadership skills she has developed.

Howard’s commitment extends into her service as a peer mentor. In this role, she has guided first‑year students through their transition to college, an experience inspired by the meaningful mentorship she received herself. She also became involved with Orientation, first as an O-Team leader and later as a team leader.

These experiences prepared her well for her current role as an academic mentor in the Center for Career and Academic Planning. Assisting advisors with daily tasks and supporting students who come to the Center for walk‑in appointments, she consistently offers guidance and encouragement as they navigate their academic journeys.

“I’ve met so many amazing people that have influenced me that are so supportive. I am so thankful Fisher brought me to them,” Howard said.

Keyes praises Howard for her reliability, discipline, and dedication to others. “Victoria is consistently showing her discipline by always thinking ahead and utilizing her excellent time management skills. Even though she participates in many different things, she always makes time to give to others.”
