Fisher Food Maintains No. 1 Spot in New York, Moves Ahead to No. 6 in the Nation

A display of cupcakes spells out SJFC.

Thanks to the culinary creativity of Fisher Dining Services, St. John Fisher College was once again named among the Top 10 for Best College Food in America, according to Niche.com’s 2020 rankings. Moving up to No. 6 in the country, and maintaining the No. 1 spot in New York State, Niche recognized Fisher for its outstanding on-campus dining experience.

From providing Fisher favorites including made-to-order stir-fry, scratch-made soups (we are looking at you, tomato parmesan!), and the buttermilk ranch chicken, the staff behind Fisher Dining Services are passionate, dedicated, and continuously focus on quality and consistency.

“Students love that we have a variety of fresh and locally-sourced foods and they appreciate new concepts and long-standing favorites,” said Andrea Maccarone, director of Fisher Dining Services. “We recognize students as our main clients and really give thought as to what it is students would like to see on the center of their plate. We are fortunate to have talented chefs, cooks, and service personnel that deliver. They care about the food and service to the campus community.”

Under the direction of Maccarone and Executive Chef Joel Kraft, Fisher Dining Services has earned a high place on the Niche.com rankings for three consecutive years.

Niche.com rankings also placed Fisher in the No. 1 spot for Best College Campuses in New York (No. 18 in America) and Best College Dorms in New York (No. 41 in America). The campus ranking recognizes colleges and universities who offer outstanding campus resources across its footprint, including classrooms, labs, housing, food, and recreation. In the last 10 years, Fisher has opened several new facilities, including the Skalny Welcome Center, Polisseni Track and Field Complex and Pellicano Pavilion, Victor E. Salerno Center for American Enterprise, Wegmans School of Nursing Simulation Center, Integrated Science and Health Sciences Building, Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great, and new this fall, the Upper Quad Residence Hall.

Additional Niche.com rankings include Best Catholic Colleges (No. 2 in New York; No. 30 in America) and Best Colleges for Nursing (No. 5 in New York; No. 92 in America). See Fisher’s full ranking profile here: https://www.niche.com/colleges/st-john-fisher-college/rankings/.
