Learning Fund Takes Students to Atlanta, Army West Point

June 27, 2019

Fisher sport management majors Andrew O’Hara and Justine Tam have been selected as the recipients of the Sport Management Department’s 2019 Student Experiential Learning Fund.

Andrew O’Hara, pictured here at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, is spending the summer with Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer.

Established by the department in 2018, the fund provides students with financial support for travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred during developmental opportunities.

O’Hara is spending the summer with Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer, while Tam will join the Army West Point Athletic Compliance Office during the fall semester.

Justine Tam will pursue an internship at Army West Point in the fall.

Created through the generous support of program alumni, faculty, and industry partners, to date, four students—O’Hara, Tam, Derek Raux ’19 (Chicago Sky), and Garrett Steiger ’18 (New Hampshire Motor Speedway)—have benefited from the funds.
