An inaugural ceremony held on Thursday, June 5, recognized the nine participants of the Next Generation Leadership Institute. A part of St. John Fisher University’s Family Business Program, the institute is a year-long program that prepares next generation family members for leadership positions in their family-owned firms.

Over the course of 10 months, participants networked with business leaders, engaged in personal coaching and goal setting, built leadership and strategy skills, and learned about concepts critical to business success, including family governance, transition planning, and more.

The ceremony recognized Hannah Allen Andres, Jack Billitier, Michael Crossett, Morgan Gionta, Maxwell Herbst, Tae’lor Jackson, Elise Johnson, Patrick Johnson, and David Williams for their successful completion of the institute.

“You embraced every challenge with remarkable openness and grace. For the last year, you have inspired each other, our faculty, and live case study speakers. From 360-degree feedback sessions to creative exercises, from engaging with our live case study speakers to absorbing insights from our talented Fisher faculty, you brought exceptional energy to every session,” said Dr. Carol Wittmeyer, director of the program.

Dr. Kevin Railey, provost of the University, also offered remarks.

“This is truly one of my favorite times of the year—when we pause to recognize the remarkable achievements of both our matriculated students and our Executive Education Next Generation Leadership participants,” Railey said. “This program creates a vital bridge between our campus community and the broader business community we serve. The intersection of academic excellence and practical leadership development exemplifies what makes Fisher distinctive.”

At the ceremony, Dr. Dan Connolly, dean of the School of Business, which houses the program, also recognized Wittmeyer, who will be retiring as founding director this summer.

“Carol has established an excellent foundation for our future,” he said. “We remain committed to continuing the mission she began—inspiring entrepreneurial families.”
