Kimberly Brown

Kimberly Brown is currently an educator in the Rochester City School District. Known for her collaborative approach, she leverages her expertise in curriculum development and instructional strategies to create inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive. She emphasizes the importance of dialogue and partnership with teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to ensure that each child’s unique needs are met.

She has held various roles within the Rochester City School District. She started as a paraprofessional over 20 years ago then elevating and evolving into different roles over the years, with the most recent being an Assistant Principal. Prior to her administrative role, Brown distinguished herself as a dynamic English language arts teacher, inspiring students to explore the power of language and literature as tools for self-expression and social change. Her innovative teaching methods incorporated diverse texts and perspectives, challenging students to critically engage with issues of identity, equity, and justice.

Additionally, Brown is the owner of Kimet Scholarly Services, an educational consulting firm that partners with a variety of equity-focused organizations to create and revise culturally relevant, anti-racist curriculum. Kimet Scholarly Services is dedicated to providing professional development, curriculum design, and strategic planning services to schools and districts committed to equity and social justice. Through her consultancy, she has empowered educators to dismantle systemic barriers and cultivate inclusive practices that honor the dignity and potential of every student. 

In her adjunct role at Fisher, Brown facilitates English Methods and social justice/diversity classes. She has dedicated her career to the liberation of young minds and the advancement of equitable education opportunities for all. She is a devoted social justice advocate who spends a considerable amount of time organizing and supporting community service initiatives with her sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
