Requesting Accommodations

The Student Accessibility Services team is happy to connect with disabled students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) to discuss educational barriers and potential accommodations.

Process to Request Accommodations

Students who are connecting with us for the first time should complete the following steps:

  1. Submit an application. Use your Fisher ID number (8 digits, excluding the “@” symbol) to log in to AIM to complete the request for accommodations form.
This form is for academic accommodations only. View the residence hall accommodations information for housing, dietary, or other non-academic accommodations.
  2. Provide documentation. Upload documentation directly through the AIM Student Portal. Please do not delay scheduling an appointment due to concerns about documentation—our staff will guide you through any additional information that may be needed. For more information, see documentation guidelines.
  3. Schedule an intake appointment. Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email at your Fisher address with instructions on how to schedule an intake appointment. During this meeting, you will discuss the barriers you are experiencing, explore potential accommodations, and determine next steps with the SAS coordinator.
  4. Request Letters of Accommodation for your professors. After your intake appointment, you will receive your official Letter of Accommodation. For each subsequent semester, you must log into the AIM Student Portal to select the accommodations you wish to use. SAS will then distribute your letters to the appropriate faculty. Please note that instructors will only be notified of accommodations relevant to their specific course.
  5. Stay connected. We understand that questions or concerns may arise throughout the semester. Your SAS coordinator is available to provide ongoing support. Don’t hesitate to reach out early if you need assistance. You can contact us directly at sas@sjf.edu or call (585) 385-7272
