On-Campus Residency Requirement: New for Fall 2026 Incoming Students
On-Campus Residency Requirement*
While all full-time undergraduate students are welcomed and encouraged to live on campus for their entire academic career, first-year students are required to live on campus for their first 4 semesters. Students who transfer into Fisher as a first-year student in January are required to live on campus for 3 semesters. A semester spent in an approved credit-bearing study abroad or internship program counts as living on campus.
Students are exempt from this policy if they meet any of the following criteria:
- reside with a parent or legal guardian and
- have a permanent home address within Monroe County or 30 miles of campus; or
- have graduated from a high school located within Monroe County or 30 miles of campus
- will be 21 years of age or older during their first year
- are a military veteran
- are married and/or a parent or legal guardian of a dependent child who resides with them
Students who do not qualify for an exemption may appeal this policy when they:
- have a demonstrated extraordinary financial hardship that necessitates living off-campus; or
- have a medical diagnosis that cannot otherwise be accommodated on campus
For incoming students, the deadline to file an appeal of the housing requirement policy is June 1 for the fall semester and January 1 for the spring semester.
Individuals who fail to fulfill the residency requirement or receive an exemption will be assigned to housing.
*This policy begins with full-time undergraduate students entering Fisher in fall 2026.

Meal Plans
All new first-year and transfer students are assigned to the Tier 2 meal plan. The Tier 2 meal plan is the most popular and is used by the Student Financial Services Office to calculate the cost of attendance.
If you wish to change your meal plan, you may do so through the first week of the fall semester in myMealPlan. Learn more about your meal plan options.
The cost for the meal plan will be billed to your student account.
