Information Technology

Fisher’s information technology minor helps you harness the power of computing and communication technologies that are a vital part of virtually every career field you can imagine.

As an information technology minor, you will study networks as communication systems, concepts of data and how information is derived from the data, and fundamental web technologies.

Upon successful completion of the required coursework, you should be able to apply current technical concepts and practices in the core information technologies. These include programming, computer networking and hardware, databases, and web technologies and issues.

Program Overview

The information technology curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication while stressing interdisciplinary learning. You will work using applications software widely available and important in the workplace.

Introductory courses in high technology, computer security, and databases and application, as well as a networking class, are required. You will also choose two classes from a set of electives covering topics such as programming, computational media, and web design.
